Installation instructions from here
Notes:
- if you change IP address or domain, need to change it in the apache dokuwiki.conf
Start-up:
1) Requested ticket for project on the Melbourne Research Cloud (MRC), specs input for website use case - no suitable cloud/hosting service available by UniMelb i.e. Confluence is staff-only, sharepoint too clunky etc.
2) Chose wiki platform to be used (Dokuwiki, most user friendly & fit for our purpose)
3) Assigned allocation for total 2 vCPUs, 100Gb storage, 16Gb RAM. Allocation for unimelb-TURBO-wiki will expire every 12 months - 20/11/25: someone needs to keep extending it.
4) Set up VM instance with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, assigned internal network interface (172.XXX… ip address) with ssh security groups (can only access via VPN or UniMelb network)
5) Generated public/private keypairs, always used for ssh access (need to link with instance on MRC)
6) Installed dokuwiki onto VM via ssh, config files set to point to ip address
7) Chose domain (TURBO.physics.unimelb.edu.au) via correspondence with IT consultant, helping with SSL certificate, onboarding site to web application firewall, applying for public ip
8) Submitted ticket to apply for public ip address, granted (45.XXX…), changed VM instance so network interface is public
9) Assigned public domain (turbo.physics…), changed config settings to redirect there. Changed the security groups so ssh access can only be done internally
- onboard website for security etc.
- apply SSL certificate
